Wasatch Muzzy Elk - Tanner Kochevar
After 12 years of waiting I decided to cash my preference points in on a Muzzleloader Wasatch Elk tag. This was a unit I was familiar with and a unit my family has hunted for 50+ years. The weather conditions and Harvest moon were not ideal for elk rutting but we made do. After 7 days of hard hunting and close calls, we decided it was time to "rejuvenate our mojo." This meant eating the Rocky Mountain Oysters from a bull my brother took in 2014. Later that afternoon we happened onto a bull that was sounding off at 5:30 versus the typical 10 minutes before dark. After working in for almost an hour, my brother and I were able to sneak in and coax this bull into less than 10 yards. After a well placed chest shot I watched the bull travel 50 yards and tip over, it was a surreal moment. Walking up on my bull was something I had always dreamed of. I had always imagined walking up on my bull from behind with his left antler out of the brush, that is just how it played out. I was glad my buddy Colby was up on the hill watching it unfold and capture video of my bull with the Phone Skope. As well as my brother and hunting partner,Travis, back 30 yards calling for me.
Thank you to everyone that made this possible, what a ride!

Muzzy Bull DownAwesome story. Hunting time is family time. My sons are lucky to have had so many friends and family there on their big hunt.
I'm proud of their hunting ethics, how hard they work, and how much they love that mountain. I'm a lucky Mom to have sons like Tanner and Travis.
Muzzy Bull Down!Awesome bull Tanner & an even cooler experience!
